Wow, that video was pretty much BS. OK, so it's not 'revolutionary technology', which is simply a marketing term, but I don't think they are lying about not being able to have vibration on the new controllers. First of all, why would they lie about that? Second of all, chances are, if it's much more sensitive than that old piece of junk, well vibration will more than likely interfere with that sensitivity.

Did you see the slow-ass reaction time and how much he had to move it to get any motion out of it? Yeah, that's because it was a gimmick controller. Not saying Sony's isn't, just saying their claim probably has validity.

Well the old controller demonstrated in the video HAD vibration and motion sensing...

Immersion supposedly has a motion sensing and vibration in a same controller as well. (Immersion being the company that sued Sony over the vibration in the original DualShock controllers, patent infringement)

It's not really a lie, if Sony hasn't come up with a way to do both without breaking patents, but it still isn't cutting edge technology, which you'd think to get with as hefty price tag as PS3 has.

You guys should read a little bit more. First of all the video might as well just be ignored, because it's a no-brainer that we've had rumble/tilt detection in game controllers for years. I don't recall Sony ever commenting on a "revolutionary controller" first of all, at least not anymore than did Nintendo and Microsoft. (Anyone notice that the XBox 360 controller took a turn to be more like the PS 1/2/3 controller? As in, NOT gigantic.) Personally I really don't care about rumble, or tilt control in the controller because I find it distracting anyway. The only things I use consoles for anyway is fighting games, and your occasional RPG...everything else is better for the PC IMO, and my keyboard has no rumble or tilt.

Also lets take a look at a bit from Immersion, commenting on the PS3 controller:

Quote:
If Sony truly is having trouble successfully integrating vibration alongside motion-sensing technology, Immersion said that it would like to help. "Immersion would be happy to step in and solve their problem," Viegas told GameDaily BIZ. "If it truly is a conflict between vibration and motion sensing, we have some of the world's experts in the field of haptic technology or force feedback... and we already have three ways we know how to solve the problem, but we're not willing to work with them until we've resolved this long, simmering legal battle. So if this is really a technical hurdle, we're confident that we can solve this through filtering techniques, through processing techniques and through hardware modifications."
Sony's never been one to disappoint, and we've still got awhile before the PS3. For those really worried about a controller with tilt and vibration (only the revolution controller is known to have both of these right now I think), I'm sure you'll be able to get one for the PS3, if it's not in the default. If nothing else, the Playstation controller as a whole is simply the best one out there when it comes to being comfortable and easy to use. All the nintendo controllers up to this point have had a very awkward design that often required different hand positions for different games (edit: 'Cept for the original nintendo/super nintendo), the revolution "remote" is going to take a lot of getting used to I'm sure, the original XBox controller was gigantic, and very cluttered if not just plain uncomfortable, and the XBox 360 controller while better, is only better 'cause it's more like the playstation design. (I really am curious as to how the revolution's going to handle though, it might end up being pretty neat after you play with it for awhile.)

...'course I'll just be sticking with my PC anyway.
